Waste Transfer Station users are reminded that the Marton Transfer Station charge by weight for the general public from Mon 2 November 2009. Charges will be $80.00 per tonne from 2 November 2009 until 1 July 2010. After 1 July 2010, charges will increase to $95.00 per tonne.
Only trucks and cars towing trailers are required to use the weighbridge, and will be charged by weight. There will be a minimum charge of $23, increasing to $25 from 1 July 2010.
Standard volume charges apply to car boot loads, small to medium loads from vans, utes and station-wagons. Vehicles with obviously large loads may be requested to use the weighbridge.
Council is working to introduce additional recycling options at waste transfer stations to reduce costs to users. New services will be advised as they become available.
